INDORE: A man allegedly beat his wife with a laundry bat and later dumped her in a well after she told him to wait till she cooked the food.
The police said that on Tuesday evening, the accused Dinesh Mali, a resident of Tilyakhedi, reached his home after work and found that food had not been prepared yet. When he asked his wife
(40) about it, she told him to wait for some time as she was busy with household work. Hearing this, Dinesh got angry and started arguing with her. He then hit her with a laundry bat on head, causing her to collapse. When their daughter, Nikita, tried to intervene, Dinesh beat her too with the bat. He later dumped his wife in a well and fled from there, the police said.
The matter came to light when Nikita called up her relatives and told them about the incident. The police were informed and the body was taken out and sent for postmortem examination. Though the exact cause of death was not clear, officials suspected that the woman might have been alive after assault but drowned in the well.
“A case under IPC sections 302, 294, 323, and 201 has been registered and the accused arrested,” Hatpipliya police station in-charge Sajjan Singh Mukati said.
