Srinagar, Apr 29 : The Kashmir Police on Wednesday promoted 1,785 personnel to the next ranks after a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) approved their elevation, officials said.
The committee, constituted under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V.K. Birdi, assessed the suitability of eligible Head Constables (HCs), Selection Grade Constables (SgCts) and Constables.
Out of the total promotions, 300 Head Constables have been elevated to the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), 1,020 Selection Grade Constables promoted to Head Constables, and 465 Constables elevated to Selection Grade Constables.
The IGP Kashmir congratulated the promoted personnel and their families, expressing hope that they will continue to work with dedication towards maintaining public peace, tranquillity and law and order in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the officials added. (KB)
