Srinagar Police Leads Joint Mock Drill for Pilgrim Safety.

Srinagar, June 28 (KB): As part of extensive security and disaster management preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026, Srinagar Police, in coordination with multiple stakeholder agencies, carried out a comprehensive mock drill at key locations in the Parimpora and Maloora areas on Sunday.

The exercise was designed to assess the preparedness of various agencies in handling emergency situations, improve coordination among response teams, and ensure swift and effective action during any unforeseen incident along the Yatra route.

The drill involved active participation from J&K Police, CAPFs, SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, Health Department, Ambulance Services, Traffic Police, and the Civil Administration. Prior to the exercise, officials briefed all participating teams on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), emphasizing coordinated response, communication efficiency, and adherence to operational protocols.

Different emergency scenarios, including vehicle-borne IED threats, stand-off firing, road accidents, Fidayeen attacks, and law and order situations, were simulated to evaluate the response capabilities of all participating agencies.

Authorities also reviewed arrangements for emergency relief, including food, shelter, and medical assistance, which have been planned through coordinated efforts of the CAPD, Revenue, and Health Departments under the supervision of the Joint Police Control Room (Joint-PCR).

Following the mock drill, a detailed review meeting was held to assess the performance of each agency, identify operational gaps, and further strengthen the emergency response mechanism.

The exercise reaffirmed Srinagar Police's commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and well-coordinated Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra by enhancing inter-agency preparedness and disaster response capabilities.
