Srinagar, April 20: Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, on Monday chaired a high-level crime review meeting at PCR Kashmir, taking stock of the overall law and order and investigative performance across the district.
The meeting witnessed participation from senior police officers including Zonal SPs, SDPOs, DySPs, SHOs and other field officers. Discussions centered around evaluating crime trends and strengthening investigation mechanisms, particularly in cases related to narcotics, unlawful activities and other serious offences.
During the session, a detailed assessment of cases under NDPS, UAPA, crimes against women, POCSO matters, theft, burglary and murder was carried out. Officers were instructed to ensure quality investigation and improve conviction rates by strictly adhering to legal procedures and standard operating protocols.

Highlighting the growing concern of drug abuse, the SSP directed intensified action against drug peddling networks, with focus on dismantling hotspots and tracing financial links of illegal trade. Officers were asked to investigate both forward and backward linkages in such cases and initiate action against proceeds of crime, including attachment of properties and freezing of bank accounts.
The meeting also reviewed the ongoing anti-drug campaign “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan,” emphasizing coordination with civil administration and community stakeholders to spread awareness against substance abuse.
Expressing concern over acquittals in certain cases, the SSP directed officers to rectify investigative lapses and ensure accountability at all levels. SHOs were asked to regularly monitor investigations and guide investigating officers for better outcomes.
Reaffirming commitment towards effective policing, the SSP stated that performance would be closely monitored and necessary action would be taken against any lapses. He urged all officers to work in coordination to maintain law and order and ensure safety of citizens in Srinagar.
