Kathua, Apr 20: A two-day specialised training programme on VIP security commenced on Monday at District Police Lines (DPL) in Kathua, aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency and preparedness of police personnel.
The programme was inaugurated by Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma, who underscored the importance of skill-based training in managing VIP security duties with precision and alertness.
Designed by the Security Headquarters (SHQ) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the training module focuses on key aspects such as access control, threat assessment, anti-sabotage measures, duties of personal security officers (PSOs), convoy movement, escort responsibilities, crowd management and emergency response strategies.
Officials said the programme witnessed participation from several supervisory officers and field personnel, including Additional SP, Deputy SPs, SHOs, incharge police posts and PSOs, reflecting a collective effort to strengthen the district’s security framework.
Expert trainers from the security wing are conducting the sessions, combining theoretical inputs with practical demonstrations to ensure effective learning outcomes.
Addressing the participants, SSP Kathua stressed the need to implement the skills acquired during the training in real-time scenarios and encouraged personnel to make optimal use of such capacity-building initiatives.
