Srinagar, May 10: District Police Srinagar on Sunday successfully concluded the T-20 Cricket Tournament organised under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025-26 at SP College Ground Srinagar. The tournament, which commenced on April 04, 2026, witnessed active participation from sixteen teams representing various areas of Srinagar district.
The event was organised with the objective of encouraging youth participation in sports, promoting healthy competition, and strengthening Police-Public relations through positive community engagement.
The grand finale and closing ceremony was presided over by SSP Srinagar, Dr. G. V. Sundeep Chakravarthy (IPS), accompanied by senior officers of District Police Srinagar. A large number of spectators, sports enthusiasts, and local residents were also present on the occasion.
In a thrilling final match, Team District Police Srinagar emerged as the winner after defeating Team Kreshbal Strikers. Both teams displayed remarkable sportsmanship, discipline, and competitive spirit throughout the tournament, making the final encounter highly exciting for the audience.
During the closing ceremony, SSP Srinagar distributed trophies, medals, mementos, and cash prizes among the winning and runner-up teams in recognition of their outstanding performances. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of ₹20,000 along with the championship trophy, while the runner-up team received a trophy and a cash reward of ₹10,000. The “Man of the Series” award was also presented to a player for his exceptional performance during the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Srinagar appreciated the enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship shown by all participating teams. He highlighted the importance of sports activities in channelising the energy of youth towards constructive and positive avenues. He further stated that such initiatives play a significant role in identifying local talent, strengthening mutual trust between Police and the public, and promoting social harmony within the community.
District Police Srinagar reiterated its commitment towards organising more youth-centric and community-oriented programmes under the Civic Action Programme in the future to foster stronger bonds with the public and encourage constructive engagement among the youth.
