SIA chargesheets 10 in ‘Doctors Terror Module’ case in Srinagar

Srinagar, Apr 16: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir on Thursday filed a chargesheet in a high-profile terror conspiracy case linked to a covert network referred to as the “Doctors Terror Module,” officials said.

The case stems from an FIR registered at Police Station Nowgam following the appearance of threatening posters on October 19, 2025, in Srinagar’s Nowgam area, purportedly in the name of the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Authorities said the posters were aimed at creating fear among the public and disturbing law and order.

During the investigation, officials uncovered what they described as a well-organised conspiracy to revive the outlawed group Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). The accused are believed to have operated a secret module involved in radicalisation, recruitment, and planning potential terror activities.

According to investigators, the use of JeM’s name was a deliberate tactic to mislead agencies and amplify psychological impact, while the actual objective was to re-establish AGuH’s presence.

The probe further revealed the involvement of educated individuals, including doctors, who allegedly used their professional access and spaces for unlawful purposes. The group is accused of spreading extremist content online and procuring materials linked to explosive-making.

Officials said the accused had identified Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP), a highly volatile explosive, as a key substance, citing ease of access to its components. The scale of material gathered pointed to a serious threat that could have led to major consequences if not intercepted in time.

The SIA said the network has been fully dismantled, with evidence including digital records, forensic findings, recoveries, and witness statements supporting the charges against the accused.

Those named in the chargesheet include Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir-ul-Ashraf Bhat, Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid, Irfan Ahmad Wagay alias Owais, Zameer Ahmad Ahanger alias Mutlashi, Dr. Muzamil Shakeel Ganaie alias Musaib, Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather alias Javaid, Dr. Shaheen Saeed, Tufail Ahmad Bhat, and Dr. Umar Un Nabi of Pulwama, who was earlier killed in a suicide attack at Delhi’s Red Fort.

The chargesheet has been submitted before a competent court, while further investigation in the case is underway, officials added. (KB)
